2 Days Tour from Marrakech to Zagora Desert Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Draa Valley → Zagora Desert Camp
Early in the morning, your driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech and begin the journey toward the Zagora Desert. The road takes you through the stunning High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, one of the most beautiful mountain roads in Morocco. Along the way, you will stop to take photos of panoramic landscapes, traditional Berber villages, and terraced fields. Your first major stop will be at the legendary Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its stunning earthen architecture and as the filming location of many international movies. You will have free time to explore the narrow alleys and climb to the top of the kasbah for spectacular views.
After lunch, continue south toward the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest and most beautiful river valleys. Enjoy the view of endless palm groves, ancient kasbahs, and small Berber villages lining the oasis. Arrival in Zagora in the afternoon, where you will meet your camel guide and begin a peaceful camel trek across the desert dunes. You will watch the magical sunset over the Sahara and then arrive at your desert camp. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, tea around the campfire, Berber music, and stargazing. Overnight stay in a private desert tent.
Day 2: Zagora Desert → Ouarzazate → High Atlas → Marrakech
Wake up early to admire the unforgettable sunrise over the desert dunes, followed by a freshly prepared traditional breakfast at the camp. After breakfast, you will return by camel or 4×4 vehicle to the main road, where your driver will be waiting. Begin the journey back toward Marrakech, passing through the beautiful desert landscapes and stopping in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you will have free time to visit the Taourirt Kasbah or take photos of the famous Atlas Film Studios from the outside.
Continue the drive through the High Atlas Mountains with several scenic stops along the way to stretch your legs and take pictures. You will arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation, marking the end of your unforgettable 2-day Zagora Desert tour.
