Itinerary Trekking in the M’Goun Valley 6 days

Day 1: Marrakech – Azilal – Aït Bougmez Valley (1,800 m)

Early morning departure from Marrakech toward the central High Atlas. Travel through the dramatic landscapes of Azilal before arriving in the Aït Bougmez Valley. Meet your trekking team including guide, cook, and muleteers.

Enjoy a short acclimatization walk around the valley to stretch your legs and get a first taste of the High Atlas environment. Dinner and overnight in a local guesthouse in Aït Bougmez.

Day 2: Aït Bougmez – Tizi n’Aït Imi (2,900 m) – Tighremt n’Aït Ahmed

Begin the trek with a steady ascent to the Tizi n’Aït Imi Pass (2,900 m), offering spectacular panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Descend toward the charming village of Tighremt n’Aït Ahmed, located at the entrance of the M’Goun Gorges.

Overnight in a local guesthouse or with a welcoming Berber family.

Day 3: Tighremt n’Aït Ahmed – M’Goun Gorges – Ouzighimt

One of the most remarkable days of the trek! Follow the course of the M’Goun River, often walking through shallow water depending on the season. Marvel at the narrow gorges, sometimes over 200 meters deep, with striking red cliffs and cool shaded paths.

Arrive at the peaceful village of Ouzighimt and enjoy a well-earned rest. Overnight in a guesthouse or campsite.

Day 4: Ouzighimt – Aguerzka – Tiranimine

Continue trekking along the M’Goun Valley, passing through traditional Berber villages and lush gardens. Observe the daily life of local communities, their unique architecture, and the region’s agricultural traditions.

Reach Tiranimine, a quiet village offering a perfect setting for the night. Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 5: Tiranimine – Boutaghrar

Trek through the varied landscapes of the M’Goun Valley, including red cliffs, wind-carved rock formations, and terraced fields. Arrive in Boutaghrar, renowned for its traditional mud-brick kasbahs and breathtaking valley views.

Overnight in a guesthouse or with a local family.

Day 6: Boutaghrar – Kelaa M’Gouna – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast, transfer by vehicle to Kelaa M’Gouna, famous for its rose cultivation and annual Rose Festival. Continue through the High Atlas Mountains toward Ouarzazate, then back to Marrakech. Arrive in the late afternoon and conclude your trekking adventure.
